Two things go wrong when people buy lighting: they buy something too dim for the room, and they buy something they are not allowed to install. Four questions fix both, before anything is in a basket.

Say you cannot change the wiring and every hard-wired fitting is removed from the result — not ranked lower, removed.
Ask about a bathroom or an outdoor space and only articles rated IP44 or better are offered.
Ask about close work and only articles where we hold a colour rendering test report are offered.
Every lux target and the utilisation factor are published in full.

What this is not

It is not a lighting design and it is not a survey. It is arithmetic on an area, with three safety filters in front of it. A room with dark walls, a high ceiling or a lot of dark furniture will need more than it says.

What we will not do

We do not install anything, and we do not arrange electricians. Work on fixed wiring in Denmark has to be done by an authorised electrician, and finding one is outside what we can help with.

If the plan comes out thin

Sometimes the filters leave almost nothing, and we would rather show you that than pad the result. Send us the room and we will tell you what would work, including when it is not something we sell.
